Richard Adams's Watership Down is a 1978 traditionally-animated film that's based on Richard Adams's novel of the same name. It was written, produced, & directed by Martin Rosen (with John Hubley being the 2nd director). It stars the voices of John Hurt (Hazel), Richard Briers (Fiver), Michael Graham Cox (Bigwig), Simon Cadell (Blackberry), Harry Andrews (General Woundwort), & Zero Mostel (Kehaar).This film has been rated PG for depictions of animal violence and gore (MPAA/USA), PG (Canadian English), G (Canadian French). I would give this movie 077% of a star.

PLOT:

!!!SPOILERS!!!
A society of rabbits flee their endangered home & set out to start a new one in the "promised land" Fiver talks about. They face peril along the way-hawks, dogs, cats-but finally reach Watership Down. Hazel then says that they need some does, so they go to Efrafa, where an evil group of fellow rabbits are led by General Woundwort. The WD society successfully lead the does to Watership Down, & Woundwort is presumed dead.

THOUGHTS:

I think this is a good movie to watch, because it really grips the plot of the book like a pro.

WARNING!:

This film is EXTREMELY violent & has a LOT of blood & gore in it, so if you have children under the age of 9 or 10, be ready to cover their eyes during the scary parts, & I mean it!!! Because nowadays, it's rating would be PG-13 (for sequences of animal violence including bloody images and disturbing content).
